Rigger Boots
Rigger boots (“riggers”) are a very popular type of safety boot, usually the preferred choice of work boot by the builder or construction worker. The name “rigger” comes from the fact that they were originally used by the tradesmen of the same name; however, nowadays rigger boots are worn by workers from all types of industries & even worn as a general purpose work boot for domestic gardeners.
“Riggers”, as they are commonly known, are usually tan in colour and go approximately third of the way up the leg, feature a steel toe caps for maximum safety. The other distinguishing feature of the common rigger boot includes pull-up loops around the top of the boot’s shaft and internal fur lining for comfort. Rigger boots are sometimes made in other colours, (usually black) & often can be seen worn as fashions.
Rigger boots are manufactured by various major companies including Dewalt, Caterpillar, Cofra, Sterling etc… There are however a number of rigger boot manufacturers produced that are unbranded & cheaply imported.
